at Unity in the Valley

Unity in the Valley invites you to join us at the Christmas season for worship, music, and holiday fun.

From the beginning of Advent through our Christmas Sunday Morning Worship Service, we will observe and commemorate the birthday of our Lord and Master, Jesus, through solemn worship, Scripture reading, spiritual lessons, special Christmas music, and holiday merriment.
Our last Sunday Worship Service in December will be our annual Burning Bowl Service.

Special Birthday and Christmas Activities:

Sunday Worship Services. In the Sundays prior to Christmas (December 6, 13, and 20), our Worship Services at 10:00 a.m. will celebrate Advent and the Birth of Jesus.

Lavina Alexander's 100th Birthday, Monday, December 7, 2009. Lavina is the mother of Gail Guerette. Our church will hold a birthday party for her - by invitation. We will also be thinking of Lavina at our Birthday/Friendship lunch following our Worship Service on Sunday December 6. .

Christmas Party. December 18, 2009, 5:00 p.m., at the Recreation Center, La Posada. Dinner will be catered. Menu will be determined. Price: approximately $26.00. Check with Kaye Wivell, and sign up with Kaye.

Candle-Lighting Service. Christmas Eve, Thursday December 24, 2009, 7:00 p.m. Rev. Donna Maurer, Minister of the Religious Science Center for Spiritual Living, and members of her congregation will join Rev. Guerette at our Unity Church for a beautiful joint Candlelight Service. Special readings and music will be provided.

As we proceed into the New Year:

Burning Bowl Service. Thursday December 31, 2009, 6:00 p.m. During this special prayer and meditation service, people in attendance are invited to write a "Letter to God," releasing the past and noting what we want to see in our life in the coming year. We then place this in the bowl. The papers will be set on fire and turned to ash, as the smoke and the messages go to God and your problems and concerns evaporate. We had a very inspirational service this past year as part of the Sunday Worship Service, and many in attendance burned away their problems and limitations. This year, the Burning Bowl Service will be an entire service unto itself.

At the conclusion of this service, people will have ample time to drive to Amado for:

New Year's Eve Service. On Thursday December 31, 2009, 9:00 p.m. to midnight, Amado Territory, scheduled for the Mercado auditorium (tentative location, pending some changes in the Mercado property). Join us as we usher in 2010. It will once again be a joint entertainment and service with the Religious Science Center for Spiritual Living, held at the Amado Territory Mercado auditorium.
