at Unity in the Valley

Unity in the Valley invites you to join us at the Christmas season for worship, music, and holiday fun.

From the beginning of Advent through our Christmas Sunday Morning Worship Service, we will observe and commemorate the birthday of our Lord and Master, Jesus, through solemn worship, Scripture reading, spiritual lessons, special Christmas music, and holiday merriment.

Our last Sunday Worship Service in December will be our annual Burning Bowl Service.

See details of these services below (scroll down).

Our Sunday Worship Services and Christmas Eve Candlelight Service are always open to everyone.   We welcome all visitors, newcomers, guests, and their families.

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.  (Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23).

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.  (Luke 1,31).

And she [Mary] brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.   And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.   For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,  "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."  (Luke 2: 7-14)

Special Christmas Activities:

Sunday Worship Services.  From the beginning of December through the last Sunday before Christmas, 2007, our Sunday Worship Services at 10:00 a.m. followed and celebrated the Christmas Story, from Advent to the Birth of Jesus.  Special Christmas music, provided by our Choir and various soloists, was marvelous.

Christmas Party.  Friday December 7, 2007, at the Grill-on-the-Green.  Our party was a success again this year.  Thanks to Judy Robertson and all who participated.

Candle-Lighting Service.  Christmas Eve, Monday December 24, 2007.  Our 2007 Candlelight service was a well-attended beautiful spiritual inspiration.

Joy to the World!  The Lord has come.  Let earth receive her King.  Let every heart prepare Him room.  And Heaven and Nature sing.  (Handel:  Joy to the World.)

As we proceed into the New Year:

Burning Bowl Service.  Sunday December 30, 2007.  During this service, people in attendance are invited to write down problems and concerns that they wish to eliminate from their lives, then place the list in the bowl.  The papers will then be set on fire and turned to ash, as the smoke and the messages go to God and your problems and concerns evaporate.  We had a very inspirational service this year, and many in attendance burned away their problems and limitations.

New Year's Eve Service.  On December 31, 2007, 9:00 p.m. to midnight, Rev. Donna Maurer led a New Year's Eve social and religious service at the Unity Church (all indoor rooms at the Amado Territory, home of the Religious Science Center, were under renovation or were booked).  There was a New Year's Eve dessert and social, followed by a religious service, in which Rev. Guerette was one of the speakers.  Join us again as we usher in 2009.  Location to be announced.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is he that is born King of the Jews?  For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." ... And he [King Herod] sent them to Bethlehem, and said, "Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also."  When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.  When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts: gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.  (Matthew 2: 1-2, 8-11)

O Come all ye faithful,  joyful and triumphant.   O Come ye, O Come ye to Bethlehem!   (John Francis Wade:  Adeste Fidelis.)
